Cencorship is lame. :]

Censorship is an insanily dumb thing, I must say. Why censor things? I honestly don't even understand the reason. Everyone knows what the real word or phrase is, and they've previously heard it several times. It isn't protecting anyone. Just the other day I was watching the movie The Breakfast Club which is my personal favorite. But when someone swears in it, they edit it out, and instead they censor it with things that make it sound worse than swearing because it's so unbelievably obvious that it was censored. In the movie they censored "that's shit" with "that's bologna" or they use the word "spit" instead. Seriously, that is so lame. We all definantly know what word goes in it's place, so it's not doing any good in the first place.

When people censor things they think it wil protect somebody, but it doesn't. There are topics that everyone needs to be knowledgable about and censoring these things are helping no one. Take banning books, for example. When a book is banned, the world is being kept from the knowledge and experiance that they would have recieved if they had read it. It just isn't right.

And why censor music? Music is just poems put into song. Of course, some modern artists are putting many inappropriate things such as sex and violence in their songs, but most music like that is rap. And rap isn't real music. Music can effect the way someone feels at any moment, and that's a wonderful thing. When people are feeling sad, they usually listen to music that they can relate to, or that can cheer them up. If people are feeling blissful, they'll listen to music that is happy so that they can keep the high that they have off of life. If someone is angry, they'll listen to music that sets that mood. Along with this, if someone is upset because their boyfriend broke up with them, they call their friends. It's likely that the friend they talk to will call the ex-boyfriend a vulgar term. People will be introduced to swearing, sex, violence and such even without having it in movies and music. So why should it matter if it's in movies and music? People can relate to it in those things. They're are beautiful stories that people should be able to hear about without censorship.

As Allen Jenkins said, "Censorship in any form is the enemy of creativity, since it cuts off the life and blood of creativity: ideas."
