Really late edit...
GETTING HIT BY A CAR! Okay, so it wasn't like I wasn't out of a car... I was in a car too but it still counts. I got into a car accident in November. Thanksgiving, to be exact. I've been through the details without everyone (most recently Tucker on Christmas aka yesterday...) but what pretty much happened was my dad was driving, my grandma was in the passenger seat, my brother was asleep on my left, I was in the middle, and my mom was on my right. We were going to go see Lars and the Real Girl (I NEVER GOT TO SEE IT!) and we were right on this intersection when the light turned yellow. I don't remember any background noise or anything. I didn't even see the car hit because it hit from the left and that's where my brother was sleeping. I only saw it when it hit the front of the car. My mom screamed so then I screamed. We got jerked to the right and we hit the curb. I screamed again. So then we hit a transfomer box and then I screamed. But my mom was already telling me it was over. It seemed like as soon as we stopped there was the guy outside of the car. The young, black guy with the ponytail I think I owe my life too. There was a funny gas smell in the car and he was knocking on the window, making sure everyone was okay and trying to get the doors open. The stupid Vue had automatic locks and we forgot so me and my mom started to freak out. We unlocked the doors and started to get out. Turns out, my brother couldn't open his door because we landed in a ditch of livewires and he was ontop of them. The guy told him and we got out and went across the street. Then, of course, we went to the hosptial and blahblahblah. This is hard but... Song choice: "So, In This Hour..." by The Rocket Summer. Nobody has any idea how much this song calms me down. At the end, there's this part where there's no singing, it's just his piano and the guitars and stuff. I listened to it on the way home from the hospital (in the car... no, not the same car. The Vue got totaled. We went home in the van) and despite the fact that I was crying, SITH made me calm down a lot more than I was before I listened to it. Everyone has a song that calms them down. This is one that makes me feel okay again. Always has, always will.

Today you are going to write about the idea within this quote and what are your life goals? What will your verse be? You may even discuss a poem you really enjoy and how it helps bring more meaning to your life!You may even write as a poem or prose! This is SOOOO exciting.
“We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, ‘O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?’ Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?”

Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts
and for the Christmas season... Let it Snow by Aaron Neville
2007
This year was my cousin Bianca’s first year away at college in Oswego. I miss her even though she comes home for holidays and every once in a while. Because usually when I got to visit my grandma in Niskayuna we meet Bianca and my aunt robin at grandma’s and we all hang out. [She lives in Scotia] Also, I usually hang out with my cousins Curtie [Curtis], Dan and Greg [but he’s in college] who live in Latham but this year they got a cat and my mom’s allergic so we can never go over there and visit with them like we have since we’ve moved upstate. Unless it’s nice outside and we can hang out outside but it’s not in the fall and winter. I can’t wait to see them tomorrow for our family Christmas party!
song: Where'd you Go- fort minor
Another significant event in my life was the change from middle to high school. I think that high school is over-rated. It’s not as horrible and it’s not as fabulous as everyone puts it out to be. All it is is a scary reminder that you’re growing up. I have to say that high school is way better then middle school in ways of independence, because teachers pretty much don’t care if you fail or not. There is also a pretty big transition from middle to high school, but I think it would have been way more difficult if I didn’t have my brother in the same school.
Vitamin C -graduation [ friends forever]
A fun thing that I went to this year with my family was the chocolate festival in Albany. Its so much fun because there’s a bunch of booths set up around the entire museum with chocolate samples, cheese samples along with huge white chocolate and milk chocolate fountains where they give free strawberries out to dip into chocolate. I can tell by now your probably craving a chocolate covered strawberry because well, I am too. IF you really like something that you try then you can by a whole set. This year I bought my dog Shadow theses granola peanut butter treats from there. This was our second year going and I hope we go next year too.

My Year: 2007
Song: Hide and Seek-The song is sad and hopeless, just like I felt.
#2) I was in a singing contest called Algonquin Idol at the middle school. I was so nervous, but I got out there and I heard my friends screaming my name. Then, I WON! I was so happy and proud of myself!
Song: Fallin' (Alicia Keyes) - It was the song I sang.
#3) I took a trip to Okemo Mountain with my friend and went snowboarding. Her family rented a condo and it was 3 stories and it was bigger than my house. The entire trip was just pure fun.
Song: Celebrate - It was some good times!
#4) Graduation of 8th grade and summer starting was a big event in my year. I worked hard at Algonquin and honestly I wasn't sad to go at all (but now, I miss it sometimes). I was so excited it was summer.
Song: A Whole New World (Aladin)- I sang this with Jeremiah at graduation...the whole new world was highschool, and it is not a magic carpet ride but I thought it would be then.
#5) Towards the beginning of summer my cousin died. I didn't know him that well, because he was so much older and we never talked much, but I was still very upset. My whole family was. It was hard to deal with.
Song: Adam's Song (Blink 182)- It is about a kid that died, and was misunderstood.
#6) During summer I got really close to this boy Zach. I really liked him and we hung out all the time. In August, we started officially dating. It's been 4 months, but I already feel so strongly about him. He's my penuin!
Song: Better Together (Jack Johnson)- Life's always better when I'm with him.
#7) Next big event was the start of highschool. I was so nervous, so scared. First day I was so lost, and I thought I'd never find my way around. I didn't want upperclassmen to judge me, I had no idea what to expect.
Song: Three Little Birds (Bob Marley)-"Don't Worry About A Ting' , cause every little ting' is gonna be alright"...Those are the words, and I shouldn't have worried, because I found my way around eventually. And so far, nobody makes fun of me, that bad.
#8) November 10th...My birthday!!! On November 9th I was in the talent show and then that night at 12 midnight Zach called me to wish me a happy birthday and he told me to go get my iPod. He had borrowed it and gave it to me that day. He told me to search Artist for Zach Dolan. I did, and then he said "Just pick the phone up when your done.". He wrote me a song. It was amazing and I was so happy. I cried and cried. It was a dream come true.
Song: My Song! (It is untitled at the moment)
#9) I GOT THE LEAD IN THE SCHOOL PLAY! I wasn't even going to try out, but I did and I was so incredibly happy!!!
Song: Joy to the World
#10) Christmas time is here and I am stressed! I don't have the money I want to buy my family presents. But I watched "A Wonderful Life" in English and now I just have calmed down. Things could be alot worse and my family will understand.
Song: Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas- It's self explanitory, no?
My Verse
"Only a fool takes their past and carries it with them."
I am not sure who said this, but its really true. People should not dwell on their past and sulk in the worst memories they can think of. If they are great memories then thats cool..but that was yesterday and you should focus on whats right now and whats to come. You cant change anything you have done, there is no rewind button on life, so why bother thinking so much about it. Learn from the mistakes of the past and use them to improve your future. This is, without a doubt, difficult because maybe something in your past had so much of an effect on you that it comes into your life a lot..but why not give it a try to stay at least a little positive, it wouldn't hurt.
Have a great life =']

When my mom got better, I was very relieved for a while. She wasn't able to get her job back because she would have had to redo the training for six months, and she didnt have the money or time to do so, but shes trying to suffice with another job until she can get a better one. My dad was great with letting me stay with her for so long even when I was supposed to be with him. I dont have a song for this but it was an uplifting time after mom was better.
Beginning high school was fine for me. I thought the transition would be really tough but it wasn't so much, and I did pretty good. It was weird though, because then I got a little worse, but then I got better again. Kind of an educational roller costar. I'm doing okay right now though, just Earth Science thats killing me.
The last one would just be friends I guess. the high school drama begins and everyone whos not involved gets thrown in the middle of it anyways. I was used to it last year and nothing's changed this year besides an increase in the name-calling and drama in general. Its pretty much rediculous, though I guess you cant go through school without it.
Not to do the bare minimum or anything..but I have another blog to do so I'm going to get to it. =']

my poem
My Dreams Are the Sun
See that golden hue
Burning in the west
My dreams are with that color
My dreams are the sun
The sun always sets
But never seems to rise
That sun carries my dreams
Slowly out of my reach
I watch it slide away
Leaving me behind
The color disappears
My dreams are with that sun
Whenever the sun sets
It rises in another place
A place blessed by that light
My dreams are hidden in that light
At my window seat
I watch the sun take it all away
My dreams are with the sun
My dreams are the sun
Dawn Michelle
The reason i got this poem is because i feel like the sun is bright and when your bright you pursude your dreams, but when the sun goes away or you do something that could take away your brightness then your dreams do not get pursude.

Life is full of miracles. Life you should take things as they come. Have quiet time by yourself. Do things that make you happy. Work hard at things you do. Down life's path we go. Life's Battles. Life's storms Life of challenges Face life's tests Life's gold Final road of life. Shirley Ann Easter This poem really explains what Life is all about. I think this is life's meaning.
Some of you may know that i get flight training because I am in the Civil Air Patrol, so, early this year in January I went up for my third flight. So I find out that I am going to have to do stalls, a stall is when you raise the nose of the plane to high so the plane starts to free fall. Also in the year I went to Ohio to and hung with my cousins, and that was when i played flashlight tag in a corn field. This year I also got to try and fight my older brother, not real fighting, yeah but anyway he won because he is a United States Marine. This year I also received Senior Airman in the Air force auxiliary. I also got to field dress a deer, which is when you gut it and do all that nasty stuff.
Soundtrack to OhSeven!
Song choice would have to be What Beautiful Is by Aaron Rothe. It's a song that he wrote for a very special girl. He lists all the good points about her and explains how he's not in love with what she wears or who she represents, but who she truely is. And when my niece was born, all I could think of was this song. She's so beautiful and innocent and I fell in love with her the very first second I looked at her. Family means the world to me and having her in it makes it so much better.
Number two: Summer of 2007
I'm pretty sure that Sugar Magnolia by The Grateful Dead puts my summer in a nutshell. It's all about having fun with your friends and those summer flings that make everything good. And Weekend Warriors by A Change of Pace can help sum-up my summer. It's about being a kid and just letting everything go over the summer. It captures that feeling that you have on those first few days of summer where you're so free and careless. And to be really old school I have to mention Summer Girls by LFO. Man that song is just all about summer and it just makes you feel warm and think about all those good times you had. My summer was exactly like that. I wish that I could relive it every day. It was perfect for me and I'd do anything to have it back again.
Number three: Highschool
Most kids were either scared to come to highschool or just didn't want to go simply because it was school. Me on the other hand, couldn't wait. It's a big step from middle school ,but so much better. Middle school was just a competetion for popularity and a big dramatic mess. In highschool, popularity doesn't matter. As for drama, sure there still is some but it's not over stupid little things we'd hate our best friend for. Some of us have really grown up, others are still stuck in 8th grade.
Number four: Justin Leaves for Latham
I'd say that Ohio Is For Lovers by Hawthorne Heights can bottle up this part in my life. Justin was the best guy friend I think I've ever had. He was like the twin brother I never had. And when he moved I really wasn't effected until about a week later and school started. Then I knew that I'd probably see him about once every three months. And I still haven't seen him, but he does call. And loosing that secure feeling I had with him really made me a mess. And I think that Ohio Is For Lovers captures that feeling and is actually one of Justin's favorite songs. he played it for me acousticly so many times and it never gets old :]]]
Number five: Nina Grows Up
I really feel like in the first month of highschool I grew up really fast. And I was always told I was very mature for my age, but I never bought it. But after that first month I noticed I started to see things differently and appriciate things I never appriciated before. I grew up. And I think that Coffee Break by Forever The Sickest Kids describes that part of my life. I'm not really sure how to describe the feeling but what I do know is that Forever The Sickest Kids did a darn good job at trying to put that feeling into a song.
Number six: Cait is Threatened With Emma Willard.
Now, Cait Sleasman is one of my best friends taht I love with all of me. And her parents are pretty serious when it comes to her grade. Now, Cait's never been one of the best students, but she does pretty well in school. When her progress report came home, they told her that if her grades didn't get better, they'd ship her off to Emma Willard. Lately I've been seeing her after school doing extra credit and getting help from teachers. She's been trying so hard to stay here. And now that I've seen her like that, I realize that she really wants to staynot just because she likes it here, but because of her friends. She's told me over and over that she wouldn't be the same, great person that she is now. I'm sure she would be but hearing her say that lets me know that she appriciates me. I think that Even Fairy Tale Characters Would Be Jealous by PlayRadioPlay! can help me explain this part.
I'm pretty sure that I ran out of good points of 2007 for me to point out. But what I can say is that 2007 was a year where I found out who I am and what I stand for. It was a year of slef discovery and careless fun. So long to OhSeven and hello to OhEight!
2007
I hope this Chirstmas is good a one, I dont know what else to write about, I didnt do much this year.

“….Life goes faster than you think…so don’t blink” This is from the song “Don’t Blink” by Kenny Chesney. Every time I hear this song it really makes me think about my life. The message in this song is really strong and means a lot to me. This past year has gone by so fast and I’m looking forward to the new year starting.

2007 In A Nutshell
This year of 2007 was a BIG year! I could have hundreds of songs, but I will try not to get carried away (Mrs. Gaboury, you know I can get carried away with soundtracks :) ). Right now my brain is not working in chronological order, so it's kind of hard to think. Well, the first thing that popped into my head was the song "Celebration" by Jump5. This year in November my dad was elected Town Councilman for the Town of Nassau. It was a great success! We were celebrating all night! The song describes the excitement of the evening.

Highlights and Shadows of '07
Looking back on 2007, all I see at first is gray fog. As my mind comes into focus, certian things begin to stand out. Events that I know I probably won't forget until the day I die. I present to you the outline of my year. . .
National Day of Prayer Worship Service~ Last winter, my youth group had an incredible worshio service. It really refreshed and deepened my faith.Go-Karting~ I went go-karting in late June for the first time this year . . . it was awesome! A great way to start the summer. We went with the head staff from the boy's camp we run. It totally rocked!!
NYC w/ Sally Jo~ A good friend of ours (a grown lady) took my sister, a friend and I all down to NYC with her for 3 days. We had a blast. We went to the Bodies exhibit (amazing! - real preseved bodies but not to gross), the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and other places.
Sam's lyme~ During our fabulous trip to NYC, we got a phone call from my dad. My 8 year old brother, Sam, had lymes disease and was in the hospital. That was rough. The left side of his face was paralyzed - he couldn't blink or smile with that half of his mouth for a month. He's fine now. Thankfully.

1: Lauren's birthday party, mid April 2007: That party was just creepy. Anyone who was there knows it. We were in the basement and things just kept happening that were totally un explainable. We were watching Moulin Rouge and then the lead guy was singing and it paused and he kind of looked like a demon. Then, of course, being the smart 14 year old girls that we are, we started playing truth or dare and it just kind of turned into, "whatever secret is told in the basement stays in the basement." So we started talking about people we had known that had passed away and... rape. It's kind of amazing how many people you can talk to on an every day basis that have been raped. I know three friends off the top of my head. But anyway, we were just sitting there and we started getting cold and shivvering. Lauren's furnace is in the basement. It was like, eighty degrees down there and we were all shivvering. This was not just a superstition, there was something down there. Song choice: "I Am For You (Don't Give Up)" by Waking Ashland. It just reminds me of my friends and how we always help each other though things. (The comfort we create to prove we're something/But we're starving/You're screaming in the night 'cause you want answers/From the one/And there is hope again/Don't give up, you're not thinking/Don't give up, just keep seeking/And I, I am for you/And I, I will love you/And I, I am for you/And I, I will save you)
2: Conclusion of eighth grade: 'Nuff said. Song choice: "Brat Pack" by The Rocket Summer. It's such a high school kind of song. It's all about summer and being with your friends and wanting to get out of the town you live in. (For 'bout for years I've hated this town/There's just so much I want to get out/Since graduation/Was long ago/Please somebody get me out of this hole)
3: Falling in love with a boy: Ahh, Tucker Paterson. There's just something about him that girls like for some reason. Everyone warned me! EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON I KNEW WARNED ME. But I fell in love with him anyway. We weren't going out. It was just... there. Song choice: "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service. It's like a love song, but not. It's mellow but happy at the same time. (I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles/In our eyes are mirror images and when/We kiss they're perfectly aligned/And I have to speculate that God himself/Did make us into corresponding shapes like/Puzzle pieces from the clay)
4: Being forced to fall out of low with (the) boy: Tucker all of the sudden just stopped talking to me. It was like he led me on and then just... dropped me. I guess I shouldn't have been so surprised beacuse I mean... it's Tucker. But with any boy that leaves you... it hurts. And this hurt a lot. Song choice: "Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)" by The Postal Service. This song was in Wicker Park, probably one of the best romance movies of all time... plus, it has Josh Harnett (Best. Actor. Ever). (Take a look at me now.There's just an empty space.But to wait for you is all I can do/And that's what I've gotta face)
5: First time meeting Roger: Roger makes me smile so much. He was a friend of one of my best friends (Kyle) and we were having a sleep over in my brother's room (it was supposed to be just me and Lauren). Needless to say, we didn't do much sleeping. There were a lot of laughs, stuffed balls (NERF, PEOPLE!) , and X-Box playing. I found out like, three months later that Roger and Kyle were actually talking to each other quietly when me and Lauren were doing something and Roger's like, "Wow... this girl's pretty chill." And then Kyle fell on the ground laughing. he told me a week later that he liked me. No, we're not going out. Roger has emotional issues. Song choice: "A17" by Jeremy Ashida. It's a song about friends and how everything will be amazing in the end. (We're sitting at the pool/Working on our tan/Just C-H-I-L-L-I-N/John can't swim/We'll push him in the deep end then save his life/Whoa oh oh we're doing fine/Whoa oh oh we're doing fine/Whoa oh oh we're doing fine/Whoa oh oh we're doing fine)
6: HIGH SCHOOL! It's so much better than middle school. No contest. Only similarity is the kids you're with and the drama. Ewww. Song choice: "Seventy Times Seven" by Brand New. It's angsty, about an old relationship and high school. (Back in school they never told us what we needed to know/Like how to deal with despair, or the break in your heart/For twelve years I've held it all together but a night like this is begging to pull me apart/I played it quiet, left you deep in conversation/I felt uncool and hung out around the kitchen/I remember I kept thinking that I know you never would/And now I know I want to kill you like only a best friend could)
7: My brother's best friend leaving for the Air Force: Q. I love Q. Obviously, his name isn't really Q, but his last name sounds like Q. Well, Q plus other things. He's sort of like a second brother to me and he's also taught me to never go to Texas because it's just highways and military bases. And of course, Bush. Song choice: "Hands Held High" by Linkin Park. Q had to leave because he had to. He doesn't have enough money for college. (My brother had a book he would hold with pride/A little red cover and a broken spine/On the back, he handwrote a quote inside,/"When the rich wage war it's the poor who die")

my year: in prespective.
Nothing else that was really big happened. I know, I know we started highschool and blah blah blah but that wasn't truly THAT big of a deal. hahahaha

My 2007 Year
Starting High School was huge. I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it really is, although it is tough to keep up with the homework. Another thing that happened in 2007 was that my grandma passed away. It was a very hard time for my whole family, we were so close to her, and it has been especially hard for my grandpa. But I think we can help him get through it, or at least be a little less lonely. I have learned a lot about my friends this year too, like which ones are my real friends that I can trust. I joined the tennis team and got better than I was before (although I'm still not that good).
I'm nervous about what the new year will bring, but also excited to see what will happen and how I will handle it. I'm not sure what song I would pick for my soundtrack-too many good songs to choose from-I do like the song that Kristin chose, "Don't Blink" by Kenny Chesney, but I think there may be a better one out there for my particular year. I like the song "We Laughed Until We Cried", by Jason Aldean, because it talks about how they were thinking back on the good times, even though it might be a bad time now. I like this because, even though it might be sad the the year is ending, we can go on to the new year and still have our memories of the old year.
2007-Shizzle
My experiences in 2007....Geez, where to start? It feels like the time before June was so long ago it couldn't have possibly even been this same year! I think this year has been mostly good. I'm basing that on the fact that the events that come to mind right now are mostly good, but maybe that's just because the past couple of months have been good...But whatever. All's well that ends well, right? So by that logic, this year has been good.
I'm finding it very hard to remember what happened early this year. Well, let's go from the very beginning. What was the first thing that happened this year? Oh, right, of course. We had hosted a New Year's Party, and the McFadden family was the only clan that had not yet departed. We were in the living room, watching the ball drop on the television. The ball dropped. The McFaddens left. The year began.
This may sound weird, but the song I'd choose for that moment would be "Happy Xmas " by John Lennon. It's not just a Christmas song, and it's more of a reflective song than your typical "Hooray, jingle jingle, golly gee I do love this time of year" number. This reason I'm picking this song is because of its lyrics, which include, "So this is Christmas/and what have you done?/Another year over/A new one just begun." To me, this says that it's not enough to live survive a year, you need to contribute to it, which I agree with. Towards the end, this song features a children's choir singing the words "Happy Christmas, war is over." So it has a message of hoping for peace and rejoicing that peace seems to have been found. Besides these aspects, I really like the mood and the feel and the sound of the song.
Hm. January. February. March. Our dog, Joe, was hit by the 102 school bus. I don't think there would be a song for this event. I'd never really experienced a death before, save for the deaths of friends or family of people I knew, but didn't know the deceased, and a beloved pet chameleon when I was little. I was sad, of course -- not as sad as if a person I knew had died, or as lonely as I'd have felt if we had had Joe for more than 10 months, but sad. In addition to being sad, I was surprised. Wow. Things you love really can go, just like that. Sometimes it doesn't happen to "somebody else" like it always seems. So this is what it's like to miss somebody who won't come back. Imagine that.
A day or two or three after Joe's last stand with The Enemy (moving vehicles), most of the 8th grade Art Club, including myself, went to the Olympics of the Visual Arts. Then in April was the spring musical, inventively titled "The Nifty Fifties" (I know, nauseating, right?). The title song, "The Nifty Fifties," is basically a lot of nerdily-dressed people commanding the audience to "come-a come-a come on along, come-a come-a to the Nifty Fifties" because they "Wanna be there every now and then." Take them right back to the Nifty Fifties! They want to live it all a-gaiiiin! Oooooh!
But seriously. I reallly would choose this song for that event, because the psychopathic singers in the song seem to observe the 50s as a fantastic, wonderful, dreamlike (though that sounds more like the late 60s or 70s to be honest) good-ol'-days time period. For me, the time leading up to the play was fantastic and wonderful -- it was the first time I've ever had a substantial part in a play (Katie Mac, Emily, and I were the rebel beatnik characters and had singing solos!), I made a lot of friends, my drawing skillshizzles were in demand, yo, and it was generally just such a good time. So it fits in with the dreamlike quality of the title song.
Two down, eight more to go. Oh boy. Well...April. Nothing comes to mind. May. We got a new puppy, whom I named Mobley! Mobley is a chocolate lab. He is six months old at the moment but I don't think he will every grow up. I think Mobley's song would be "Food, Glorious Food," from the musical "Oliver!", because food is the basis of his entire universe. His life gravitates around it, completely and totally. He even likes broccoli salad, and that's disgusting. I like to think he loves me more than he loves food, but I think I'm kidding myself. Oh, well, I've got enough love for the two of us :-).
In June, several significant things happened. Well, more like two. We took the Earth Science Regents, and we graduated! I got a score I was very happy with on the Regents and I was awarded the Earth Science award at graduation, so I was, in a word, ecstatic; Earth Science was one of my very favorite classes, ever. Graduation itself was a blast, and Jazz Band performed, in which I co-drummed with now-eighth-grader Nate Chin. This wild and crazy event was followed by a wilder and crazier party shindig. The song for this awesome time would be "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, for towards the end of aforemented party we were blasting that song is McFadden's basement and dancing and singing along. I also chose this song because I think this song is very emotional, and I felt very emotional at the close of the very first public-school experience of my entire life, and because I was tired.
June, July, and part of August passed uneventfully; for this reason, I will assign the song "Comfortably Numb" to them. I'm still sort of ashamed by my lack of activity this summer -- for so much of it, I really and truly didn't do anything, besides reading a lot and drawing and those kinds of time-killing activities. But I guess that was good, because now I will never waste a summer like that again.
The later part of August -- now, that was exciting. Me, my dad, my older brother, fellow freshmen Alison Schaefershizzle and Dakota Ziegler, Sensei (Ms. Graziano), and about fifteen others traveled to...(cue exciting music)...JAPAN!!! This was a really, really cool, exciting, fun, and foreign experience for me, but I'm having trouble thinking up a song to go along with it. Maybe "A Whole New World," but probably not, because I love Japan and hate that song. Huh. Well, I guess I really can't think up a song, so I will further describe my experience with Japan: I found the intracountry clash of cultures -- the radicals with the conformists, the older generation and the young, the goth and the girly, the fashion-centered Harajuku-loving teens and twenty-somethings and the work-obsessed professionals -- fascinating. I would describe further, but that is another post entirely. In general -- Watashi wa Nihon ga tottemo daisuki desu nee!! (Lit., I really, really love Japan!)
In September, school started! (Shocker!) I was a little nervous for school starting, but mostly excited, so "ex-psyched-ed." I got into the swing of things pretty quickly, and now I absolutely j'adore high school. Perhaps the song for this occurrence would be "Wake Me Up When September Ends," by Green Day, because after all, it does have the word "September" in the title.
October passed fairly uneventfully, and before I knew it, it was November; sixteen days later, it was my birthday. I turned 14, and the song for my birthday will be "Pretty in Pink." This song is the opening number for the movie "Pretty in Pink," starring Molly Ringwald, which is fitting because I like both Molly Ringwald and pink Molly Ringwald also starred in my all-time favorite movie ever, "Sixteen Candles," also in which she wears pink.
A bunch of really happy things happened in December, so I will mention the song "Happiness is a Warm Gun" by the Beatles. I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what they mean by happiness being a warm gun, but I like the song, and it has many references to happiness, so there you go. Firstly, the Holly Ball was in December, and that was absolutely fantastic. It was, actually, the most fun I've ever had at a school dance. The song makes particular sense for the dance, because, as all who were there will know, it kept getting hotter and hotter until suddenly the fire alarm went off! This gave all the dancers a terrific opportunity to step outside, most with no shoes on, and cool off in the frigid December air.
Chanukah started in mid-December this year, and Chanukah is my second favorite Jewish holiday (the first being Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew). "The Chanukah Song," by Adam Sandler, also goes for these "Eight Crazy Nights" (ha ha), as it was my favorite song overall for this time period, and it's funny, and it's one of the only Jewish holiday songs in existence (besides "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel," which everyone knows but very few actually enjoy, "Oy Chanukah," which only people who are actually Jewish know, and a bunch of other Chanukah songs, sung at middle school chorus recitals, that have pretty much nothing to do with the actual holiday, which makes sense as they were mostly written by non-Jews). I mean, just think of the lyrics!: "Put on your yamacha/here comes Hanukkah/don't forget a harmonica/on this lovely, lovely Hanukkah..." Also, December is a wonderful time of the year when the ideas of "love," "harmony," "joy," "brotherhood," "vacation," and "commercial consumerism" are dancing like sugarplums upon people's minds.
Oh right -- and Audrey, Sara, myself, and a few others totally stomped several male members of our Molec Bio class in P.E. in December. I'm telling you, this basketball game was inequivocally epic. It should go down in history. We totally crushed them. "We Are the Champions" by Queen all the way!
Stealing the idea from Melissa Roff, I would conclude this post with the song "How Far We've Come" by Matchbox Twenty, because the title alone makes perfect sense. In general 2007 was awesome and totally great and 2008 will be even better!!
MY SOUNDTRACK
This year I did so many things that I am having trouble remembering them...Don't you hate it when you have those senior moments...but as I was saying I did many fun and exciting things this year and I went though times of crisis and troubles. In the beginning of the year I remember staying up all night with my family and playing board games with them. We were going to have a party but everyone all ready had plans so we had a party ourselves. Though it wasn't much of one. Then on the day after New Years eve I remember sleeping in almost all of the day. This is very unusually because I get up very early every morning. Then on the day after that I got up to go to school. Then during those days at school I spent my time counting the hours before school was over for the day then the days till the weekend then I counted the days till a vacation. Then finally when school was let out for the summer I drove my parents crazy with questions about our camping trip that we go on every summer. When the week of the camping trip finally came my mom had to be rushed to the hospital. We missed our trip that year. But I still had the eggs to look forward to. Every year my ducks lay eggs and we count the days till they hatch. When they finally did hatch we had eight ducklings. They were so small they could walk right out of their fencing and go for a stroll. We were naturally scared what would happen to them if they did this because our ducks have been taken away by raptors and a small band of weasels.we put up boards all around the cage but they always found a place to squeeze into and escape. Only three of the smartest ducklings made it through the year. I was very upset. We named them Hope, Faith, and Weber. After the summer cam school again. September is always the time of year that I hate the most. The days went by painfully slowly till November. I LOVE November. First we had Thanksgiving then I had my birthday! then the days stared to get shorter and darker more and more But I was still in High spirts because Christmas would be here soon. So here I am now writing this soundtrack thing wishing I was any where but here. So as long as I am writing i want to say MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Writing Excerise # 1!!!!!!!
It is very sleek, a silver-chrome color that makes one want to touch it to see how smooth it really is. The large, slightly rectangular screen is black, and moves to accommodate people of different heights. This first glance is deceiving; there are scratches and dark silver pencil marks on the seemingly flawless computer. The monitor screen is not as hospitable as it first appeared, it is just waiting to get the person that tries to adjust it and pushes it just a little too hard. Waiting for that one slightly preoccupied, careless student to break it. It is just waiting to crack, knowing that it being broken will hurt you more than it will hurt it. It is out to get YOU. It is just waiting, eager to get revenge for all the smudges and dirt and fingerprints that people have left from rudely poking and prodding it.
That is not all though, one might feel intimidated by so many buttons, that could either help you, or might cause one to delete the paper that took one 35 minutes to write. There are a multitude of wires leading out from the back of the computer to unknown, mysterious outlets and various complex attachments. I pity the unsuspecting student who accidentally knocks one of these long twisting, snake-like wires out of the plug. It would take at least an hour to figure out where the wire belonged. Even longer to find out if the assignment that the student had been working on was saved before the screen turned a foreboding black and the computer fan stopped making that annoying hum. However, there are multiple ways of losing important papers on the computer. One might have even finished a paper and was trying to post it on an internet blog, when suddenly a screen pops up that says there was an error. That the "publish post" button that you trustfully pushed has lied and betrayed you, it has not published. One might try in vain to press the green hope-inspiring back button. The page finally loads to an empty post form, your heart sinks at the thought of the 35 minutes you wasted just to create the blank page that seems to laugh and do a victory dance at your complete frustration. Your day worsens at the the thought of spending another 35 minutes trying to recall what you wrote in the post that was deleted. The tiny pestering voice in the back of your head tells you that this new post, no matter how hard you try, no matter how long you struggle, will never be as good as the post that the spiteful, deceiving, day-worsening computer has deleted. And, though you want to be your normal optimistic self, you know that irritating, whiny voice is probably right. Computers. You can't live with them, and you can't live without them.

What's The Fear In Life
Liking and non-liking are what with what we do play in life,
Families and buildingsare what in which we make investments in life,
Good thoughts and thinkings are what most involve less in life,
Tears and smiles are some with which we interact in lifeMothers and fathers are those who we love in life
Sons and daughters are those for whom we live in life,
Technologies and progress are those we look up to in life,
Yes and nos. are the words to make decisions in life,
Neither and nor are the words we use frequently in lite,
Wealth and money which we whim to earn in life,
Honesty and integrity are those qualities which we love to adhere to in life,
The forbidden fruits are those we wish to taste in life,
Opportunities and chances are fhose we want to get in life,
Creativity and discoveries are those - rare to people in life,
Gone days and memories are those to cherish in life,
Happenings and memories are those like jerks in life,
Struggles and sorrow are those to overcome in life,
The ticking of pendulum is, that reminds the age of our life,
So many are the things to do in life
-So why fear the fact - to step forward with each step towards the end of life?

This poem is pretty much how I feel about life and this is how some people should look at life also.
My Verse
And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
-Abraham Lincoln
This quote by Abraham Lincoln shows that you need to live your life. I beleive that we all need to spend time doing what we like to do and we need to spend time with the people we love and we need to have fun in our lives.
-K. Scott
K i t s t a h for president
In my life I want to change the world for the better. No person lasts forever, so why build a life that revolves around making yourself perfectly happy and content at all times? You're not going to be around forever to enjoy it. But the positive changes and ripples that you create in the lake of life could last forever, no matter how small they are. Helping other things is more important than helping yourself, because you could have been that person. You share the same emotions and life as that person or animal or tree or whatever it is, and you know what it's like to be down or impoverished or stricken or sad or in any way unfortunate -- you wouldn't like to feel that way. They don't want to feel that way. With any twist of fate you could have been born in a different place, and you could have been that Darfurian orphan, or that redwood that the paper companies are eyeing, or that homeless guy riding the NYC subway. If you were them, you'd want you to help you. So do.
Where will I be at the end of my life if I don't? I will have more money than I need because I did not donate; I will have too much energy that I did not devote use helping others; I will leave the world with only empty comfort, but not real happiness; a lot of my happiness comes from a sense of accomplishment.
I have many goals in life. Many invole helping people or animals or things or causes in a bunch of ways. I love art, but I don't think I would want to base my life around that -- I'd rather keep that as a hobby than a career. I want to do something a bit more meaningful with my life -- not that art isn't meaningful, but I'd rather go into writing or professional activism. Then again, I intend to have several careers...maybe artist can be one of them. In my life, I want to get writings of mine published and read and respected by the general public; I want to do some hands-on activism, like the Peace Corps or something like that; I want to take my talents that I enjoy, and then practice those things and hone them to as good as they can be so I can enjoy them and let others enjoy them. I want to live life to its fullest extent and enjoy life, and I know that I will only be able to fully enjoy life if I have left a positive mark on the world. My goal in life is to be a good person, a happy person, and a good friend.
Smile
To make someone smile;
To make their life a little brighter;
To make someone laugh;
To make their heart lighter;
Just to help someone;
No matter who they be;
Would make my life better;
Just you wait and see
Well actually I already try to do this. And when people laugh at me whether I want them to or not, I can almost feel their stress and anxiety lift away. I love laughter and want everyone to laugh along or at me. That will be my life long goal as long as I live. Now I'm not saying that I want to be a comedian or anything but I just want to make people laugh everywhere, anytime.
K thanks. <33

My Verse
I also like the quote that we're supposed to write about. It's saying that we are here for a time, and we leave behind something so why not make it something good. I would like to leave behind something that would help change the world, even if it only changes one person-as long as it helps. As I said, love to write. So I hope to someday write a book that might make people think about life or think about their views on the world. I just want to make people think-like only the best books can do. I don't just want to tell them something-I want them to figure things out for themselves (I know I'm being very repetetive). But I don't know how I could do that with anything else but my writing. I really want my verse to mean something to someone. I don't know exactly what it's going to say yet, but I hope to find out soon.
Life's Meaning
Today, people are wrapped up in so many things that they don't have a lot of time to think of their life and what they REALLY want to do with it. Technology has got such a tremendous grip on the human race that it just eliminates parts of our lives. With TV's in place with who knows how many channels, socializing about what happened in the day is not as common. People these days say they have their hands full with so many things to do, but I think that's partly because they choose to be. We don't need to have all the brand new electronics that are out in stores. I myself don't have cable or satellite TV, so I get about 10 channels. People are always saying I'm so unlucky and that they feel bad for me, but I don't really care. I enjoy a lot of great shows throughout the week with just 10 channels. I'm perfectly happy with what I have. Yes, having over a 100 channels would be nice, but it's only a luxury not a necessity. I also don't have the latest i-pod; I have an i-pod shuffle. I had one encounter with someone asking me if I had an i-pod. I said no, at first, forgetting that I just got the shuffle. But what they said surprised me a little. They said, "That sucks." I was thinking about that for a while. I don't feel unfortunate not having a 4 GB i-pod. These electronics have already made a great impact on society. It's almost as if people absolutely NEED them.
Well, I kind of went off on a tangent. I had a lot of other things in mind when I started writing this. It's time to go now. I will continue this later, for I could be here for hours!
to be continued...
My Verse
I don't know any poems that I could write so I found some.
We all have food
CRYING INSIDE AND NO ONE TO CARE
WHEN I CRY I'M USUALLY ALONE
Tears
wetting the eyesforming a liquid coverbecoming heavybreaking
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead"

"Every man is said to have his peculiar ambition. Whether it be true or not, I can say for one that I have no other so great as that of being truly esteemed of my fellow men, by rendering myself worthy of their esteem. How far I shall succeed in gratifying this ambition, is yet to be developed."

These words go beyond their definitions. They have and will continue to mold me into one day the man I hope to be. They speak to me, and I hope that I can uphold the slef promise I have to fulfill these words.
