Censorship, it should die a slow and painful death

I've never been a fan of censorship, it is so very annoying. I hate it when one is listening to a song on a radio, and every now and then there is just a little section of no noise, or even worse those little beeps. They get on my nerves, and if people don't want to hear what all the lyrics of a song are, then maybe they just shouldn't listen to the song. I do think it is sometimes, somewhat inappropriate for little kids to watch or listen to some movies and music, but that doesn't mean that other people that have already been exposed to most of the things in the songs and movies shouldn't be able to listen to or watch them. If a parent doesn't want their child to watch or listen to certain things, then it is the parent's choice, and responsibility to monitor and possibly block what the child is exposed to. However, that doesn't mean that these parents should have the power to block certain things from other people or their children. i think it is ridiculous that a fourteen or fifteen year old needs not only the approval, but the presence of an adult, to watch an R rated movie. My parents do not monitor what I watch, however, I've been prevented from watching some movies in the theaters because my parents don't want to see the movie with me (not because they don't want me to watch the movie, just don't have the time). It is ridiculous that someone else (in some cases) has more power than my parents to tell me what I can be exposed to.
Though censorship of movies and music annoys me, censorship of books is just unacceptable. Everyone has the right to read what they want, to take that away would be to take away their ability to learn. If one person doesn't like the topic (because it is vulgar) or ideas (because they oppose that person's ideas), then it is that person's choice to not read it. Everyone should have the option to read and interperet books in their own way, one person should not be able to take away another person's right to have an opinion.
The censorship of religion and politics is a little more comlex. I believe everyone has a right to have an opinion, and part of that opinion includes their religious and political views. So, a person should be able to state their opinion anywhere, anytime. However, a person, such as a teacher, should not be able to teach their students that their way is the right way and the only way. In a way it is similar to my opinion on the censorship of books, a person can have their own opinion, but should not force other people to conform to their views.
Censorship, though it can be helpful on an individual level, is never acceptable on wide spread level (country, state, etc.). No, one person should have the ability to tell or imply(by censoring or banning a certain work) another person that their thoughts or ideas are not worth listening to or reading. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and the right to have their opinion respected.
