last mondays blog

The national day of prayer was thursday and for this day me and some friends and a few other people..with a total of 13 came into school early and we prayed around the flag pole. I wish that becasue the school was so invloved in the day of silence, they were more invloved with the national day of prayer.

I hope that in the future the school will show just as much suport to christians along with other religins as they do with the national day of silence. (i can think of christian events that we also could use bus trips for)

It bugs me a little bit that the day of silence however is an all day thing that is reconized by the school and and in order to show my christian belif i have to come into school an hour early on my own time

First of all, nobody is silencing your christian beliefs. I will bet money on that at least 80-90% of this school is christian, or at identifies him/herself as christian. The people who are not dont go around and make fun of the christian people, so i dont think that you have a point.
Secondly, no one told you that you have to come in one hour early to pray. If you want to pray, do it when its not conflicting with other people's, namely the school's, schedules. Its great that you and your friends want to pray, but that doesnt mean that you should get sympathy for it. The participants of the day of silence didnt try to get out of class, they simply did not speak that day. Correct me if i'm wrong, but it seems to me that you are saying that the day of prayer is more important than the day of silence. Religious holidays, excluding christmas and the like, arent recognized by the school because its seperation of church and state. You cant force people to pray, not that i'm saying people were forced to be silent. If you want the holidays that you celebrate to be recognized by the school, then take it up with the school board. Just dont complain about it and try to get sympathy.

Sorry Frankie, but Neil's right. We all know your ridiculously christian/conservative, and I don't mean that in a bad way. The day of silence wasn't to spite Christians, because I'll bet that a lot of people participating in it, were Christians. I am a Christian and I still support gay's, and all the other groups represented by the day of silence. It is possible to do both. Because even if being gay really is a sin like you profress, you also proclaim that god forgives sins, and if you try to live a holy life, then you too should do as your god does. Lay off.
