A person's private life affects who they are, but for the most part, I don't care about a politician's private life. I'm mostly concerned with their ability to do their job effectively. It still has relevance, but I think it should remain private from the general public, unless this person should choose to reveal it. They can make the personal choices they want, but they are not above the law in any way.
In the classroom, a teacher should take a student's home life into account, but grade based on the work they do.
