Approval? Or Integrity?

The idea behind people living their own life the way they please is that it's their own decision. We need not search for the approval of others in our own thoughts and actions, because that's not what exactly what free will is all about. We give our own meaning to life, through what we do and think independently. When we conform to how other people are for the sake of receiving their approval, we stop living our own life, because we no longer bring any new meaning to what we do.
That's not to say, however, that other's voices aren't to be heard, or respected, but we should not let them invade our innermost thoughts. Give men your ear, but not your heart. The mind is the final human sanctuary, and we are not always vigilant enough against desecration.
