I think that people's opinions don't always matter. Everyone should be themselves and have their own personality. But sometimes, opinions do matter, because if you are running for president and people don't like you they aren't going to vote for you. I'm not saying that you should change who you are for other people, but not everyone is always going to like you,.
In farenhegiht 451, Montag discovers that reading is very important. Only a few people agree with him, and almost the whole neighborhood doesn't. If everyone did agree with him then the story would be totally differnt. Also, there are times when opiniions don't matter, if you see a person being picked on by someone else for no reason, you should try to help them.
